Back to school has always been a fun time with lots of brand new school supplies, new opportunities and hope for the future! This August our little Olivia started Kindergarten and it really pulled on my heart strings! I thought I’d be just fine with it because she is such an independent girl that loves life and everything in it, but I really miss my best little buddy. We are getting into some kind of groove now and it’s getting much easier but those first couple weeks were rough to say the least.
I think switching up my home decor every month keeps the room fresh and exciting! I haven’t switched out my home decor since my Spring decor, so May, it was a MUCH needed change! I love to change it out every month (typically) and my girls absolutely love it too! Our coat rack always gets a little back to school flare with with an apple banner (cute option HERE), decorative crayons, faux flowers in a mason jar and a picture of Christ that I keep up year round. I have two of the cute little apple blocks (cute apple decor option) that I made years ago along with a matching banner (Love this burlap apple banner that’s similar if you’re not feeling crafty!) you’ll see in a picture later on.
As always I love the Target Dollar Spot and I can always find cute seasonal and really affordable decor pieces there like the hanging alphabet chalkboard (similar online option HERE), apple holder, ABC chalk letters, the ruler chalkboard (similar online option HERE) and decorative crayons, I made the mason jars that look like apples and the crayon vase years ago! Talk about an easy DIY! I was given the green chalkboard (similar online option HERE) from someone that didn’t want it anymore (P.S. I LOVE hand me down decorations!! 😉 So if you don’t want decorations anymore I’m your girl haha ), I love that it looks like a classic school chalkboard. I also love the look of the different styles and colors of all the chalkboards layered together. I love that I get to use all my globes, this gold globe (similar) is one of my favorites! Liv made that cute HOME sign at Preschool with little handprint decorations for each month and we love to switch it out to coordinate with our decorations every month!

I love open shelving! It adds such a fun pop of color and interest to a space. I love that you can add globes to your decor really anytime but especially during September for back to school! Can’t forget the mini chalkboards (similar found HERE and HERE).
I keep this picture of Christ out year round in an old IKEA frame, you can find them online HERE though. I love to keep a little quote out too. It’s a nice reminder for something to focus on throughout the day. Love a small bowl (I got this small wood bowl at TJ’s but HERE is a super similar option and on sale!) with seasonal candy in it, but sometimes it’s nice to not have candy i have to constantly be filling or tempted by and use mini erasers, like these apple erasers or trinkets instead!
I love home decor! It seriously brings me so much joy, I can tell my girls love it too, one of Violet’s favorite words is apple! haha Both girls will play with my decorations and talk about them and I really love it! Love to decorate every little space in our front room, every door gets something like this hanging apple sign (similar HERE).
Something that is so easy to decorate with in September is school supplies! Crayons, pencils, and colored pencils! I like to buy a new pack every year to decorate with and then my girls love to use them all month long. It’s a win for everyone in the house!
I love to decorate with a burlap table runner (similar HERE) for lots of seasons/holidays. This is a new round wood tray (similar HERE), and making little vignettes in spaces that need just a little something is my new favorite thing to do! I love it! I love the look of a clear mason jar with colorful school supplies or faux flowers in fall colors. Or a box of crayons spilled out to look like they were just tossed out, they probably were in my house honestly! haha They also make the cutest, most colorful runner!
I like to get big and little mason jars to fill with school supplies and flowers. Different chalkboards, small crayon erasers and other play crayons make the perfect decor for my girls to play with and not break! I also like to incorporate some fall touches like small baskets, little farm trucks (or a harvest wagon), and apple signs.
