Road Trip Car Caddy

This post contains affiliate links, but all opinions are my own.

We went on our first road trip, ever, to Disneyland! That’s a little over 10 hours for us! That’s quite the first road trip in my opinion. We definitely learned a thing or two about what worked well. One of the things that I loved was a Car Caddy! I packed one for each of my girls but on the way home I realized I could condense it to just one for both of them. So assess your space and see what works for you before you buy.

I cannot believe my girls are already at this age, but whatever Liv has Violet needs too. So I had to have the same thing for both girls. I had the same of the big items, but inside the pencil holder I switched it up based on their ages.

This is where things got a little more unique to each girl. I realize now that for our smaller car it was a bit much, but if I had space and if Violet was a few years older this would have worked perfectly.

For Violet-she just turned 2, I had: small figurines, a large pop it, and stickers. For Olivia-she is currently 6, I had: gel pens, thin markers, a pencil sharpener (I also gave her colored pencils in her caddy), and smaller pop its that she has collected over the year.

I compiled a list, shopped my home first and then headed to my favorite Dollar Tree! After that I placed my pick up order at Walmart and then specific items on Amazon. I’ll link the favorites below!

Here’s what you’ll need for your Car Caddy:

A Car Caddy-these come in a set of 6 but you’ll find a use for the others. They can be used for so many different things! I organize so many things in my house with them, toys, craft supplies, and more! They’ve been used for a Love Note Station during February. I love that it will contain all the things so easily in the car and with a handle.

A Pencil Holder to go in the bigger compartment so all the smaller items could go in there easily.

Art Supplies-Make it fun and things they will get excited to use like gel pens, colored pencils, thin markers, and crayons. Whatever your child is interested in.

Pencil Sharpener-to sharpen all the colored pencils!

Scissors-only for the older kids

Small Figurines-So fun for the younger and older kids! There are usually so many fun figurine options at Dollar Tree. They are usually sold separately, but still such a good deal and so cute!

Pop Its-Large for younger kids and smaller for older kids.

Kids Reusable Water Bottle-this specific one fits perfectly in one of the smaller compartments of the caddy.

Snack container/catcher-This container is so cool! The kids can put their little hands in but if it falls it won’t spill out the snack. I gave them each a snack catcher of gold fish and then had the rest of the snacks up front with me. Otherwise I knew we’d blow through them.

Gold Fish-the perfect snack for everyone!

Crayons-I knew the girls would be coloring a lot so I used one of the small compartments and filled it with crayons!

Stickers-We went through SO many stickers with little V! She loved to put them in coloring books, on her face, on coloring pages, and I was fine with it because she was content. Buy the big pack. You’ll be happy you did! These puffy stickers are fun for any age, while these make a face stickers were fun for Liv and can be for older kids too! Liv also loves LOLs right now so she is loving stickers like THIS.

Flash Cards for toddlers, it’s fun for them to look at the pictures but get ready for them to be bent and missing! And flash cards for older kids!

Doodling and coloring booksSmall doodling books are so fun for Kindergarten age kids where they can doodle and write, coloring books are fun for all!

Eyewear-Few things are are worse than having the sun in your eyes when you’re trying to relax. Sunglasses will help littles look and feel cool! HERE are some for girls and HERE are some for boys. I also put in some sleep masks so my girls could sleep while we were driving!

Headphones-I kept the tablets up with me, but the girls had their headphones close by them.

That’s a wrap on the Car Caddies I made for my girls. If you have other ideas that could work in a Car Caddy I would love to hear them! More Road Trip Trips and Tricks coming soon!
