For Olivia’s first birthday the theme was Olivia’s Donut Shoppe! I had Dallin make this adorable stand for decoration and for a gift for Livy, that she could use for years to come, how stinking adorable and sweet is he for actually doing it!!! If you want to see more of her Donut Smash you can go HERE. It’s so sweet and sad how fast she’s grown just in the difference of time it took to take these pictures and this photo shoot, it was just a couple months. I had a big health scare after her first birthday. It’s hard for me to talk about it even to this day, you’ll usually find me joking about it or mentioning it in passing but it’s a really hard point for me even years later. I think that’s why I’ve had such a hard time sharing this adorable party. Lots of memories during this time, but I want to share it finally and I want remember the good things and little Liv was SO adorable and worth remembering! I’ll link where we got everything below if you’re interested. And meanwhile pass the donuts! 🙂
I designed and printed all the signage including the Olivia’s Donut Shoppe sign. I will add the Open and Closed sign to the party post that I post in a few weeks! Like I mentioned above Dallin made this stand following my party plans and direction. He’s the best assistant party planner! 🙂 You obviously can’t buy this same market/bakery stand but there are some adorable stands you can! Like THIS one or THIS one from Target both so adorable, or THIS more affordable option from Walmart, also closest match to ours.
I tied off the cute pink bakery boxes with thin white ribbon to give it that extra finished detail it needed. It was like you really were in a donut shop that was just bustling with orders!
My mother in law made her adorable apron and chef hat (this was like the inspo picture i showed her for the apron and she thought of the cute chef hat-linked similar). I love that we have a beautiful, timeless piece made by grandma in our playroom that we can keep from years to come!
I loved the play donuts that I got for her donut shop. We use them every year on display when her donut shop opens on Donut Day, they were the same donuts for this photo shoot, and the donuts we had for her party for games and decor!
For her outfit I went with a cute little donut dress, gold shoes, and a classic white bow. (All of the exact items are no longer available so i linked similar items.)
She was so adorable playing with her donut shop! I love that years later we still have it and that her and her little sister and friends still play with it.
I use these frames for everything!! I use to be able to find them at Ikea but I found a link online for them. I love that they are double sided, perfect open/closed sign!
I also got the cash register at Ikea but it’s no longer available. I found these super cute options at Target! I’m totally getting one of them! I bet you can’t guess which one, this one or THIS one! haha
Even though I didn’t make her “actual” first birthday cake I wanted to make her a birthday cake so I could say I made all her birthday cakes for years to come. haha
I’ll get to her cake smash in another post, it was so adorable!
Around this time we decided we’d like to give Liv (and hopefully our future kids) a family gift of a new dramatic play/play room toy each Christmas! We counted Liv’s new Donut Shoppe as the first official gift! I love that 5 years later we have a grocery store, kitchen (ours is an IKEA one that Dallin totally glammed up but it is out of stock, I linked a similar one that looks just like ours!), table and chairs (ours have been hand me downs but that is my dream set if I were to buy a set!) and a grocery cart (I can’t remember where we got ours but it was free, linked my dream option.) It’s been fun to grow our play room and find different pieces of our little city!
Liv has always been so sweet and kind! Always so observant and precious. It was so fun to celebrate a year with our sweet little lady!
I loved that her birthday got extended for several months too so we could do all the things I had planned!
She couldn’t stand by herself on her birthday but when we did this photo shoot she could. It’s amazing what a few months can do.
Oh another note about the cute play donuts! I really wanted felt donuts but couldn’t find an affordable option and didn’t start soon enough to make my own.
These sprinkle sunglasses would be so cute for a party favor!
The photo shoot couldn’t be complete with out a tantrum about bows. Olivia hates her bows and really prefers not to wear them as you can see. haha! Eventually she got distracted and didn’t mind it!
I love that after, when we were cleaning up she still wanted to play with the donuts! Even to this day she plays with the donuts and stand pretty regularly! YEARS later! Even her little sister, cousins and friends play with them. Mom/party planning win right there! 🙂
I have to break all these pictures up in two posts because I took so many! haha Sorry, not sorry! These pictures are priceless.
Check back soon for the Donut Shoppe Cake Smash she did the same day!
