We have a fun tradition that has happened every National Donut Day, the first Friday in June, Olivia’s Donut Shoppe opens for a couple hours! It started with her first birthday party, then a couple years later I thought it would be so fun to open up shop to pass out donuts for free. It has since morphed into a real shop for selling donuts because little Liv loves to earn the money and run the shop like a real store owner and business woman! It’s pretty adorable.

They have come a long way since Violet’s first visit to Liv’s Donut Shoppe (hopefully I’ll share that soon!).
National Donut Day is always the first Friday in June. We’ve always celebrated in someway but when Liv got old enough I thought it would be so fun to create the party ourselves and bring the donuts to our friends and family!
We’ve had several different kinds of donuts over the years, but I think we finally set into our groove. I love the fancy donuts that we sell now. Inspired and recipes by Beyond Glaze. We use to LOVE the Beyond Glaze store front years ago and now absolutely love the cookbook. It’s full of the most delicious and approachable recipes!
I love to get the girls a new dress for Donut Day, this year I got these cute white dresses! I sized up for Liv so she could wear it longer and it was a tad too big so we added a ribbon, of course V wanted a ribbon too, I love a matching moment so we were all for it!
Dallin made the donut stand for her first birthday, I designed and my sister helped me with the sign that we also used for her first birthday that we reuse every year, the white chalkboard easel is from Hobby Lobby (this one is similar and found on Amazon). I love cake stands so I naturally went to my collection and grabbed out two that would work, I think I always use this scalloped light pink one that I got years ago at the Target Dollar Spot, It broke and I had to glue it back together really precariously. I’m happy to report that it’s now better than ever! HERE’S an online light pink scalloped cake stand option. My white scalloped cake stand is old as well, but HERE is a similar option! I have a box full of donut decor that a lot of friends and family have given to me because they know that I think donuts are so fun, so the little donut decoration is also old. The little chalkboard menu sign is so fun and came in a pack that I use for parties, we love it and use our favorite chalk markers on them. The plastic play donuts are so fun for kids to play with and my girl still play with them all the time! We put them out to help set the scene and to let littles play if they’d like.
I’ve got to do a post on just the donuts, we’ve found a way to make them semi-homemade and they are really delicious and so fun! Still remembering Beyond Glaze, of course their donuts were beyond delicious, ours are just a nod to theirs.
This year our flavors included strawberry, coconut and chocolate ganache.
We sold out of large donuts, but still had leftover frosting. So I got to experimenting with mini fancy donuts. With mini Hostess Donettes of course!
We had a sweet friend send Olivia money through Venmo that couldn’t be there, just because! SO sweet!! So we wanted to surprise her and box up some donuts for her! I love these boxes, they are perfect for pies, donuts and cookies, I use them all the time!
Perks of being the co owner is you get a donut any time you want!
Love this tradition! Liv wasn’t feeling well for the last half of her shop opening and her cute cousins Evie and Emma helped her run the store. Sweetest little cousins! Liv was so excited to see friends from the neighborhood and new friends that she met this year in Kindergarten! She was so happy with how much she made and got 2 new LOL surprise balls the next day. She was so excited to be able to spend her own money on something fun!
